HandheldAtlas guide
Already downloaded a large game on your desktop? Try a local transfer before leaving your handheld installing overnight. This guide covers Steam on Steam Deck and Windows handhelds such as ROG Ally, Legion Go and MSI Claw.
Both users must be able to play the released game; preloads are excluded. Steam downloads missing content from its servers if local content runs out or the connection breaks.
Recheck the conditions above. Valve lists TCP 27040 for transfers and UDP 27031–27036 for discovery. Check local firewall permissions rather than disabling protection.
Saves, configuration, Workshop content, Cloud files and shaders are not included. Treat this as an installation shortcut, not a complete device migration.
After installation, open the game on the handheld and confirm that the intended save, controls and graphics settings are present. Keep a short note of what worked before changing anything else. If the game will be used away from home, complete the separate offline rehearsal below while you still have time to fix launcher or login problems.

This is a documentation-based setup guide. No transfer-speed, FPS or battery measurements are claimed. The final travel check is an Atlas editorial recommendation.
