Boosteroid Adds Official Support for the ROG Ally Series

The two companies advertise cloud streaming at up to 4K and 120 FPS. That figure describes the service's maximum capability, not a guaranteed result on every Ally, game or connection.

The built-in resolution, refresh rate and display capabilities of each handheld still define what can be shown on its internal screen. External monitors can create a different output path. Subscription tier, server availability, network bandwidth, latency and title support can also limit the delivered stream.

HandheldAtlas is therefore not recording 4K/120 as a benchmark. It is an advertised service ceiling without a repeatable device-side performance capture.

Why this matters on a handheld

Cloud streaming moves the game's main rendering workload away from the handheld. That can make demanding PC titles accessible without installing their full local files or relying on the integrated GPU to render every frame.

Practical benefits can include:

• Less local storage used by supported streamed games
• Faster access without a full game download
• Lower local rendering load
• The option to use a lower handheld power mode
• Access to demanding games that may be difficult to run locally

Actual battery life is not universal. Screen brightness, Wi-Fi activity, decoding, controller features and the selected operating mode still consume power. Neither official announcement provides a measured Ally battery result, so no runtime estimate has been added.

Library and availability

ASUS stated in January 2026 that Boosteroid supported more than 1,700 titles through its app and web client, with infrastructure across Europe, North America and South America.

A supported storefront game is not automatically available in every region or at every moment. Players should check Boosteroid's current game catalogue and service availability before subscribing.

Streaming also requires ownership of a supported game on a compatible linked platform where applicable. Cloud access should not be confused with receiving the game itself.

What to check before playing

For the best chance of a stable handheld stream:

• Install current Ally system, graphics and network updates
• Use a stable 5GHz or 6GHz Wi-Fi connection when available
• Stay close to the router or use Ethernet through a compatible dock
• Test latency before selecting the highest stream quality
• Match stream resolution to the display and available bandwidth
• Close background downloads and other heavy network traffic
• Compare the native app and browser client if one behaves poorly

A high reported stream FPS does not prove low latency or clean frame pacing. Input response, packet loss and compression artifacts should be evaluated separately.

What remains unverified

The official announcements do not provide a repeatable handheld benchmark, frametime capture, one-percent low, measured end-to-end latency or battery-life test.

No performance preset has therefore been created from this partnership announcement. Any future Atlas preset or benchmark would need device-specific proof identifying the Ally model, display mode, connection, service settings and test conditions.

The takeaway

Official ROG Ally series support makes Boosteroid a more clearly documented cloud-gaming option for ASUS handheld owners. Its strongest practical advantages are avoiding large local installs and moving demanding rendering to remote hardware.

The advertised up-to-4K, 120 FPS capability should be treated as a service maximum, not a promise for every game or network. The real experience still needs to be tested on the user's connection and exact handheld.
