Creates intermediate frames to raise displayed FPS, but does not replace a healthy base frame rate.

What it does
Frame generation can make motion look smoother by inserting generated frames. Controls, simulation and the original render still run at the base frame rate.
Games may also call it: AFMF, FSR Frame Generation, DLSS Frame Generation
Decision guide
Lower it when
Enable it when base performance is already reasonably stable and you want smoother presentation.
Keep it high when
Disable it when latency, HUD artifacts or unstable base frame times are more distracting than the extra displayed frames.
Handheld advice
Aim for a stable base near 40 FPS or higher before treating generated frames as a win.
Restart
Usually not required
Some games still apply changes only after reloading a scene or restarting.
Do not overread the meter
Displayed FPS can rise dramatically while input latency and 1% lows improve far less.
