What it does
A lower render scale reduces the number of pixels the GPU renders, then stretches the image to the selected output resolution.
Games may also call it: Resolution Scale, Rendering Scale, 3D Resolution
Decision guide
Lower it when
Lower it when GPU load is the main limit and the game lacks a better upscaler.
Keep it high when
Keep it at 100% when the game is already stable or the scaling filter produces obvious shimmer.
Handheld advice
Small steps such as 90% or 80% can be useful on dense handheld displays.
Restart
Usually not required
Some games still apply changes only after reloading a scene or restarting.
Do not overread the meter
Some games label the percentage differently or combine it with dynamic resolution.
