What it does
Quality, Balanced, Performance and Ultra Performance modes usually render progressively fewer internal pixels before reconstructing the output image.
Games may also call it: FSR Mode, XeSS Mode, DLSS Mode, Super Resolution
Decision guide
Lower it when
Use a faster mode when the GPU cannot hold the target FPS at the current output resolution.
Keep it high when
Use Quality or native rendering when fine detail, text and distant geometry remain stable without a faster mode.
Handheld advice
Quality is the safest starting point at 1080p; Balanced can be a practical fallback when a heavy game needs more headroom.
Restart
Usually not required
Some games still apply changes only after reloading a scene or restarting.
Do not overread the meter
The same mode can look very different between FSR, XeSS, DLSS and game-specific implementations.
